New Straitsville's
Annual Moonshine Festival

What is the festival about?

The Moonshine Festival celebrates New Straitsville's reputation of making Moonshine (an alcoholic beverage) in the 1930's. New Straitsville was known from New York to California and even places over seas as "The Wet Capitol of Ohio."


When did the festival start?

New Straitsville's Centennial celebration took place in 1970 and it was a total success. Local residents decided to hold a celebration every year. As a result, in 1971, the first Moonshine Festival was held and since then celebrated every year on Memorial Weekend. The festival usualy starts on Thursday and ends on Monday.


What activities are held at the festival?

Live Entertainment, amusement rides for children and adults, carnival style foods, carnival shops for souvenirs and miscellaneous items, Moonshine Festival Grand Parade. Live Moonshine brewing the old fashion way (no sampling allowed.)
